Here’s another hashtag holiday that’s easy to get behind

Outdoor non profits to donate to on #GivingTuesday

While #OptOutside promoted a new Thanksgiving tradition of getting outside rather getting in line (or online), #GivingTuesday harnesses the endorphins you get when using a credit card that you may have missed while you were enjoying the extra day off outside. Check out the organizations below if you’re unsure of where to start or are looking for nonprofits that are dedicated to outdoor adventure in New York City.

NYC Outward Bound Schools
A core tenant of the NYC Outward Bound Schools mission is adventure and team building through activities like backpacking, canoeing and climbing. Donate online or take an afternoon to check out the Outward Bound climbing wall in Long Island City.

Brooklyn Boulders Foundation
The Brooklyn Boulders Foundation aims to positively impact the environment, inner city youth and persons with disabilities, through physical movement and creative expression. Donate to the foundation or volunteer as a mentor, belayer or general do-gooder.

NYC Parks
It’s easy to take your neighborhood park for granted, but when you can’t get out of the city for the weekend, these green spaces offer outdoor adventure and a place to enjoy nature just a few blocks from almost everyone’s apartment. Show your appreciation for your own backyard by supporting NYC Parks.

In addition to the organizations above, we also donated to Duchess Ride, the National Parks Conservation Association (which is matching donations today) and our niece’s high school basketball team. Pull out that credit card and get swept up in the #GivingTuesday spirit. We guarantee you won’t have buyer’s remorse.
