One of the best parts about living in a sizable city is that it’s almost always a destination for tours and events. You can hear your favorite author read their latest book or you can see a movie before it’s released. You can also boulder with professional climbers.

That’s what we did on Saturday morning thanks to a tip from our pals at the North Face who were hosting an exclusive meet, greet and climb for their VIPeak members with superstar climbers Emily Harrington and Cedar Wright.

The event included a chat with the climbers about how they each got into the sport. As late bloomers ourselves, we loved hearing that Cedar didn’t start climbing until his 20s. Emily on the other hand, started in a gym at a much younger age (which was also nice to hear as the gym was the first place we ever tied into a rope as well). During the open climb after the talk, Emily and Cedar offered tips to both beginners who were climbing for the first time and experts who were projecting higher grades.

The event was free for members of the North Face’s rewards program and included a day pass and shoe rental at Steep Rock Bouldering. Stay in the know about events like these and earn rewards when you purchase gear and clothing at North Face stores or online by signing up for VIPeak here.
